the force that through the green fuse
drives the flower

When I say it’s about plants, I mean it’s about time, slowness, rawness, force majeure, fragility, repetition, a wet stain, a knot in the wood.
In a way, making art is the same as cultivating a garden – in both cases, outcome and profitability are unpredictable. We have chosen methods and techniques that are not reliable. Weaving beans into fabric may cause it to mould, or the plants may dry out and die. Anthotype images may fade and disappear by the end of the exhibition. Large files are sent in seconds, and flying over the ocean takes less than a day, but when the warp is put on the loom, weaving a rug takes just as long as it did 200 years ago.
It takes time to formulate an idea or come to a realisation. Experimenting needs space, time, and freedom to wander. Experimenting means that the outcome is important but unknown. Only time will tell.
